Detección de gas radón (Rn) intradomiciliario en 25 hogares de Mexicali, BC usando pruebas cortas
Abstract
Radon gas produces problems of environmental radiological contamination, reason why it is important to determine and to know the indoor levels. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), considers this gas like the second cause of human lung cancer after the smoking. In this work the radon gas concentrations (Rn 222) were measured in 25 homes of the city of Mexicali, BC, with the intention of exploring their levels; later to use them of reference in programs of public health. The samples were located in two layers, colonies with the service of paving and colonies without this service; the sampling was carried out during the months of January and February on 2005, using short test Kits of activated charcoal under the norm of the EPA. These tests were sent to the USA to the Alpha Energy Laboratories for their analysis. In the results was an average value of 0,792 pCi/L of air and 0,7310 pCi/ L of air for the layers paved and not paved respectively. The general average was of 0,760 pCi/L of air
